Egypt Pyramids A new pyramid discovered in Egypt video
The Great Pyramids of Egypt have always been considered as one of the most enduring symbols representing the architectural excellence of ancient Egyptian civilization.
Egypt Pyramids Ancient
According to beliefs of ancient Egyptians, whenever a Pharaoh dies, he becomes the King of the dead or Osiris. They consider that some part of the dead Pharaoh’s spirit remains attached to his corpse. It is important to take care of the dead Pharaoh’s spirit, or else a disaster would strike Egypt. Pyramids were massive tombs constructed with the objective of safeguarding the dead remains of a Pharaoh.

Bodies of the Pharaohs were mummified and buried in these tombs along with all the essentials that the king might require in his afterlife including vessels, furniture, food, and gold. The conical shape of pyramids built by ancient Egyptians represented the BenBen, a sacred and pointed stone that symbolized the descending rays of the Sun and from which Egyptians believed that the Earth was created. Ancient Egyptians believed that the pyramid represented a stairway for the king to ascend to the heavens.

Currently, there are around 110 pyramids found in Egypt. Most of these pyramids are believed to have been constructed during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods. Earliest among these is the Step Pyramid of King Djoser that was built during the 3rd Dynasty of Old Kingdom. Made out of limestone, Step pyramid is the first known monumental structure made out of stone anywhere in the world. Other important ones that symbolize the sequential evolution of pyramid construction methodology during ancient Egyptian period include the Maidum Pyramid, Bent Pyramid, Red Pyramid, and Great Pyramid at Giza, Pyramid of Khafre, Pyramid of Menkaure and the Pyramid of Pepi II. The Red pyramid built for King Sneferu during the 4th dynasty of the Old Kingdom symbolizes the first true pyramid constructed by ancient Egyptians.

Dubai tallest building World's tallest building opens in Dubai
The Burj Khalifa was revealed to be 828m (2,716ft) high, far taller than the previous record holder, Taipei 101.
Known as the Burj Dubai during construction, the tower has been renamed after the leader of Dubai's oil-rich neighbour, Abu Dhabi.
Last month, Abu Dhabi gave Dubai a handout of $10bn (£6.13bn) to help it pay off its debts.
Construction of the Burj Dubai began in 2004, at the height of an economic boom.
Clad in 28,000 glass panels, the tower has 160 floors and more than 500,000 sq m of space for offices and flats.
This great project deserves to carry the name of a great man

The tower also lays claim to the highest occupied floor, the tallest service lift, and the world's highest observation deck - on the 124th floor.
The world's highest mosque and swimming pool will meanwhile be located on the 158th and 76th floors.

The opening ceremony, held 1,325 days after excavation work started, was attended by some 6,000 guests. Though not complete on the inside, it was officially opened by Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
In a surprise move he renamed it Burj Khalifa - after the president of the United Arab Emirates and emir of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
Sheikh Mohammed described the tower as "the tallest building ever created by the hand of man".
"This great project deserves to carry the name of a great man. Today I inaugurate Burj Khalifa," he said.
Sheikh Mohammed also unveiled a plaque inside the tower bearing the new name.
A dramatic fireworks and lights show took place around the tower while a screen displayed its exact height, which had previously been kept secret.
At 828m, Burj Khalifa dwarfs the 508m Taipei 101 and the 629m KVLY-TV mast in the US, the tallest man-made structure. Its spire can been seen 95km (60 miles) away.
"We weren't sure how high we could go," said Bill Baker of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the building's structural engineer. "It was kind of an exploration... a learning experience."
Dubai Towers tallest will top 400 metres (1,310 ft) video
Dubai Towers Dubai is a four tower complex to be built in the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The developer, Sama Dubai, intends this to form the centrepiece of The Lagoons, a megaproject located on Dubai Creek which will consist of seven islands. The towers have between 57 to 94 stories and although the heights are not known, it is believed the tallest will top 400 metres (1,310 ft) while two others will rise beyond 300 metres (980 ft) . Sama ECH was the Project Management company in charge of the project. Due to downturn in Dubai the project has been put on hold.
Designed by TVS, these towers are intended to create a dramatic new landmark for Dubai. Their design represents the movement of candlelight and according to Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates, this is supposed to symbolise hope, harmony, growth and opportunity. They will contain offices, apartments, hotel rooms, retail, entertainment, gymnasiums, health spas and a variety of other services.

President Nicolas Sarkozy ordered the savings measures two weeks ago amid rumors that the country would lose its top-notch, triple-A credit rating - rumors that caused French bank stocks to plummet.
The need for new austerity measures arose as France's economic growth stalled for the second quarter of the year, after a robust 0.9 percent growth during the first three months of 2011.
The country aims to cut its public deficit to 5.7 percent this year and reach the European Union's theoretical maximum of 3 percent in 2013. Sarkozy, meanwhile, is targeting his low popularity ratings, currently 33 percent, ahead of national elections next year.

Oslo Norwegian pronunciation: is a municipality, as well as the capital and most populous city in Norway. As a municipality (formannskapsdistrikt), it was established on 1 January 1838. Founded around 1048 by King Harald III of Norway, the city was largely destroyed by fire in 1624. The city was moved under the reign of Denmark–Norway's King Christian IV. It was rebuilt closer to Akershus Fortress, as Christiania (also spelt Kristiania in late 1800's). In 1925, the city reclaimed its original Norwegian name, Oslo. The diocese of Oslo is one of the five original dioceses in Norway, which originated around the year 1070.

New York City At Night The City That Never Sleeps Colorful, Vibrant and Astounding
The Big Apple, the City That Never Sleeps, NYC, my favourite holiday destination, a fantastic city – everyone refers to New York City as something different as this wonderful place actually means something different to everyone who visits.
With an event, parade, exhibition or attraction seemingly taking place each and every day of the year, New York City seems to be continually changing. However, regardless of when you may a make a visit throughout the year, one aspect never changes – New York City at night.

New York City At Night
Whilst this may only be a general photograph taken by an amateur photographer, it shows perfectly how beautiful of a city New York can be at night.
With lights blazing from every skyscraper, every office block, the Chrysler building and the vague bridge outline in the background, it appears that New York is constantly alive, working and living – the perfect reason why it is so often nicknamed the City That Never Sleeps.

Taken from the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge, the sun has set around an hour ago in this image and the lights of the City can be seen vividly, with the red, white and blue lights of the Empire State Building shining through beautifully.
Simple and sophisticated, the lights in the foreground on the Brooklyn Bridge compliment the masses of city lights perfectly.

New York City At NightNew York City At Night
This is actually one of my favourite New York City at night photographs, not for the fact it is instantly recognisable as New York (as the rest of the pictures are), but that it shows the city as being seemingly normal – something that not very many tourists get to see.
The detail in the picture is immense (which can be truly appreciated when you click on the image to see the full version) and wherever you look, in whichever window or at the corner of whichever building, you can imagine a person carrying out normal, every day tasks in a city that can be considered anything but normal.New York City At Night
Whilst similar in terms of subject matter to the previous photograph, this superb image displays just how beautiful and colorful nighttime can be in New York.
Yellows, pinks, greens and blues all dominate this image and whilst some digital image enhancement may have been used to augment the vibrancy of the colors, for anyone stood in the same position, they would see a very, very similar image.
